April Newsletter 2007
Dear Friends,
Like a rock - the Bible does not wobble or move beneath your feet.
Like the sun - it is still there, even through the darkest days and hours.
Like a true friend - it does not fail those who trust it's wise counsel.
Like a good doctor - it does not hide the seriousness of the problem.
Like a great oak - it's teachings withstand the fiercest storms of doubt.
Like a reliable witness - it does not change it's testimony under scrutiny.
The Bible speaks of Christ.
From its earliest pages, through to its last chapters, there is a growing picture of his person and work. Some, directly inspired by the spirit of God, speak clearly of Christ hundreds of years before he is born. Others describe in great detail their personal encounters with the son of God and their observations of his life and teachings when he was on earth.
The Bible speaks of his cross.
Jesus was born to die. His whole life moved towards that precise moment at the very heart of human history when he would give himself for the sins of the world. Jesus did not die as a martyr - he died to be our Saviour. Sin separates all men from God. Jesus reconciles believers with God.
The Bible speaks of his conquest of death.
Jesus did not remain in the grave - he arose from the dead - a fact witnessed by many different people who testify to its reality. And it is his conquest of death that offers the hope of eternal life to all who trust him.
The Bible speaks of his continuing life - and so do many millions of people. As the song says - You ask me how I know he lives - he lives within my heart!
We wish you a very happy Easter time.
