Ears to Hear.

Hearing

Have you used your ears today?

Have you heard good things? Bad things?

Are you grateful you have ears?

Proverbs 20:12 says,

'Ears that hear and eyes that see - the Lord has made them both.'

Who gave us our ears?

God created man and woman so we should use our ears in a way that pleases Him.

The most important person we need to listen to is our Creator, God and what He says to us in His Word, the Bible.

Proverbs 15:31

'He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.'

The Bible has a life-giving message that rebukes us and then rescues us. What does that mean you might ask?

Can you remember a time when your mum or dad told you off because you'd got yourself into a dangerous situation?

They got cross because they love you and saw you were in danger.

We are in danger of eternal separation from God if we don't ask for forgiveness. So, in love, God sent His Son to die in our place and tells us firmly that we must believe in Jesus to save us from our sins. If you believe you are counted wise.

If you hadn't listened to your mum or dad's warning you could have been hurt.

God's warning is far more important.

Do you think you're wise or foolish?

Let's see what God thinks:

In Matthew 7:24-27, Jesus tells us of two men, one wise, one foolish.

He says that if you listen to what He says you are like a wise man who builds his house on a rock. When the rain and wind came the house didn't fall. But, if you don't listen to what He says, you're like a foolish man who builds his house on the sand. When the rain and wind came his house was washed away.

It's not enough to hear, you must put what you hear into practise.
