The Tabernacle
The Tabernacle was basically a portable tented place of worship for the Israelites. God instructed Moses that it should be built, describing it in great detail in the Bible in the book of Exodus. This shows us that we should take seriously how we worship God, but also that God cares about our lives in detail.
The Tabernacle was built by skilled workmen, using precious materials such as gold, silver and bronze. It is estimated that approximately 1900lbs (850kg) of gold was used in the construction of the Tabernacle. The tomb of Tutankhamen probably contained around 400lbs (180kg) (He died around 1326 B.C.)
It took about 3 months to complete. Some scholars say the exodus began around 1450 B.C. While others believe it was around 1280 B.C.
